FOLLOWING long-awaited renovations, the Broken Hill Speedway Club was back with a vengeance last Saturday at its Comeback to Speedway event.
The club’s first event in five years attracted about 300 spectators, pleasing the club.
“It was great,” BHSC secretary Ali Howse said.
“We’ve got some really positive feedback. It was a safe night, there were no accidents.
“Our aim is first and foremost the safety of the event, and we definitely delivered that. It seemed to run really well.”
Ms Howse said the club held a meeting on Sunday to hone in on any areas that need improvement.
“We’re already planning ahead for the next two events, which are going to be very big with a high standard of racing,” she said.
“They will have Australian champions past and present, hopefully, in attendance.”
Ms Howse said if any seniors or juniors were interested in joining the club, they could reach out through the BHSC Facebook page.
“Anybody that’s interested in being involved in the club in a volunteer capacity should reach out too, they don’t have to be a competitor,” she said.
“If they want to volunteer in a role to help, we have working bees and there’s a lot of work there, there might be somebody out there that’s looking for some community engagement and connection work.”
The next events for the club will be a state championship on Saturday, March 1, and the last round for the season will be on Saturday, March 22.
