South too good for Central

DESPITE missing a few of their regular line-up, South have easily despatched Central in their women’s Barrier District Cricket League round 6 contest.

Starting off in the field, South kept the pressure up and were able to take wickets regularly.

Heidi Drenkhahn took two wickets, Abbey Johns took her maiden wicket with the ball having handed the gloves over to Shae Neville.

Some brilliant fielding from new recruit Toni Mudditt executed a timely run-out.

Despite being short in the field for half the innings, energetic efforts kept the run rate slow and South managed to keep Central to the modest total of 6/87 runs of their 20 overs.

Drenkhahn finished with 2/12 off four overs.

Abbey Johns was joined by Grace Faulder to open for South.

Master opener Johns made a rare error and brought in Drenkhahn early.

The wickets of Faulder and Jess Eames-Beveridge fell in the following few overs to bring Lakisha Sloane to the crease.

The experience partnership of Drenkhahn (27 not out) and Sloane (23 not out) set about making short work of the total, both scoring boundaries and rotating the strike well as South cruised to victory by seven wickets from just 11 overs.
