A MAN charged with six alleged sex crimes has had his committal hearing adjourned until next month and remains on bail.
The man is charged with five counts of sexual intercourse without consent and one case of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm.
An aggravated sexual assault charge can imply the victim suffered physical harm with injuries sustained that are serious but without permanent damage.
The case is currently in an early appropriate guilty pleas process, meaning it will likely be listed as committal until it is ready to progress through the court system, and if not will be adjourned again, as it was on Tuesday, January 28.
His committal is now set to be heard on Tuesday, February 25, at the Broken Hill Local Court, with the defendant excused from appearing in person if his lawyer is there.
Following this committal, if the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions can advises the court of a guilty plea, the case moves to sentencing, and if not, to trial.
The defendant has been on bail since early october last year.
Bail conditions include mandatory daily reporting to Toronto Police Station, near Newcastle.
