A DRIVER who crashed into a truck on the National Highway near little Topar on March 16, fatally injuring her passenger, has had her court case adjourned in Broken Hill Local Court this week.
The car collided with a truck around 4pm, about 60 kilometres East of Broken Hill. Emergency services were called and paramedics attended, but the 41-year-old male passenger of the car died at the scene.
The woman, a South Australia driver, was taken to the Broken Hill Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition, and later underwent mandatory testing.
The truck driver, a man in his 50s, was also taken to the hospital in a stable condition, presenting with minor injuries.
The woman was later arrested, charged with occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
Though the driver didn’t appear in court on Tuesday, she was represented by her solicitor, Kate McDuff from Legal Aid.
Her next appearance is due to take place at Broken Hill Local Court on August 12, though she will not be required to appear if she is legally represented.
