West v North
WELL, with only six rounds to go after this weekend’s matches, things are surely heating up with West getting a few wins on the board, which could possibly spring board their momentum in the second half of the season.
I’ve heard coaches say we only want to finish third — yeah, well if you run into a rampant West, you might just get what’s coming to you.
My suggestion is finish as high as you possibly can.
Tomorrow’s game between North and West could prove to be season defining.
We have two teams with contrasting styles; West want to run and gun but they showed control last week, and North are filled with quality players with extremely good skillsets.
I’m not sure who wins this one. The pressure will need to be on for both sides.
North will really need to shut the space down, don’t allow West easy possessions, and zoning the field and guarding space might not be the style required.
West will hunt the man, and the ball blocking from North will assist them, and bumper barring West’s run will be crucial.
West have a slight upper hand with their big ruckman, but Kel will set up his midfield so they can shark the ruck.
I think tomorrow’s game will be based on territory and who can gain the most metres.
I will take a punt on the Doggies again, but West will fight it out.
I’m going the pups by 10 points in what should almost be the game of the season.
South v Central
THIS game also has some significance as Central aren’t that far from South on the ladder, and South need this win to consolidate top spot.
The season surely is anyone’s.
From what I’ve seen of Central’s game last week worries me.
You can’t just bomb it long on heads, especially when you could try and get behind the defence or lower the eyes and hit the forward up.
Once the ball hits the ground, I think South will be licking their lips as Central’s ground ball speed just isn’t there.
I have been a fan of Central’s all season but last week was very disappointing.
Their structure needs adjusting immediately and the way they use the ball has to change.
Because of these points, I’m definitely going the Roos today.
South can do it in the air and on the ground. Their tackles must stick and do what they do best and that’s winning the ball back.
I can see a slight blowout in this game if Central bring what they did last week.
I’m saying Roos by 40 points. Enjoy the footy, everyone.
