PULGAMURTIE Station, 235 kilometres north-east of Broken Hill, has opened its gates to outdoor enthusiasts in time for summer.
Station owner Grant Roberts said he’s seeking to diversify the cattle station’s portfolio by taking bookings for hunting, fishing, and four wheel driving.
“Pulgamurtie has plenty of room for multiple groups to visit for day trips or stay a few nights,” he said.
“We’ve had a great season, we got 330 millilitres of rain this year which is nearly 30 per cent above average rainfall.
“We’ve already culled over 1000 pigs this year, and there’s plenty more around with the recent rain.”
The Yantara Lake system is a highlight of Pulgamurtie, offering fishermen roughly 40km of water and nearly 100km of shoreline to cast a rod.
“Yantara would have to be the biggest freshwater lake system west of the Darling in a good season,” Mr Roberts said.
Another key feature is the view from top of Ghost Hill, a perfect place to watch the sun come up over the ancient landscape.
“My daughter Grace and I drive up to the top of Ghost Hill every Anzac Day for a dawn service and barbecue breakfast,” Mr Robert said.
“It’s a special spot.”
Mr Roberts also said he’s is excited to have people make the most of his family owned station.
“We’re open to people with all different tastes: bird watchers, mountain bikers, pig hunters, fishermen,” he said.
“I’d like people to come and spend time with their friends and family.”
