Ex-local trainer investigated

AN investigation into a former Broken Hill greyhound trainer is underway in South Australia.

It has been reported that the former local, Jack Trengove, now located at Two Wells, SA had complaints made against him for animal welfare breaches.

It is alleged that the trainer had dogs with sores and bloody stool.

It is also alleged that he is being investigated for refusing to medical care for his greyhounds.

A Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA) spokeswoman confirmed an investigation is underway.

“Greyhound Racing SA can confirm it is investigating a series of complaints made against an industry participant,” she said.

“Initial complaints concerning the participant were supported by kennel inspections and, since further presentation of complaints in October 2024, a number of interviews have been undertaken by the GRSA Integrity Department to obtain additional information.

“This investigation continues and should there be sufficient evidence to substantiate a charge, GRSA will refer the matter to the independent Integrity Hearings Panel (IHP).”

In 2023, on the Mount Gambier Greyhounds website, an article stated that the Two Wells trainer Jack Trengove made his presence felt at a meet when training a treble – Dutch Rambo, Love My Key and Subzero Annie.

According to the article, he had made only half a dozen or so trips down to Tara Raceway that year.
